My education Journey
My path to Interdisciplinary Studies (IDSC) began with a desire for a more comprehensive college experience. I found many people do not end up working in the field that they studied in college, so it seemed appropriate to study multiple fields in order to best prepare for my professional career. Business Management was already in the plans but adding Economics and Psychology gave me a well-rounded education.
An additional benefit that I was not expecting from my IDSC education was extensive knowledge on how different disciplines interact with each other. How to effectively play to the strengths of each discipline and incorporate them into solving a problem began to emerge as key strength worth developing.
Applying IDSC
Sustainable Cities and Communities
Applying the Interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving, two classmates and I wrote a research paper addressing the problem of building Sustainable Cities and Communities. We used our diverse IDSC emphasizes to tackle the problem from the ground up. Click here for a link to the report.
